UoM Code Wars Poster

The new executive committee of the UoM computer club has the pleasure to announce the First iteration of UoM code wars. Aren’t you fed up with the boring snippets of code you’re writing in classes, uni consuming all your free time and not using your skills for worthwhile internationally recognized software development? We’ve got you covered.

In partnership with ( the leading open source development group of Mauritius and Mauritius Telecom (MT), we’ve crafted a little challenge for all of you. A way to get you started into open source software development.


The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the body that develops the Internet protocols. An IETF Hackathon is focused on practical implementation of Internet protocols.  Teams will be given the opportunity to select the tasks that they want to perform. This will give the participants flexibility, but also a sense of accomplishment. Prizes are still present, for groups that produce solutions that are well designed and can be used in production environments.

Training will be provided by members of throughout the event. Don’t worry if you’re not that good with codes, they’ll be there to help. You will learn lots of new things and resolve challenges in open source projects used by millions. If you’re able to show your worth, your code may be accepted and in the future be found in millions of devices worldwide.

  • A team must consist of a minimum of 3 participants up to a maximum of 5 (3-5);
  • Participants will be able to bring their own equipment or use the Lab’s equipment.
  • Be there or you’ll miss a  chance. to get into open source development.

Knowledge of programming and ability to read and understand C code will be useful. Python will be a +

Operating System: Linux (any distribution with a gui in VM or dual boot)

Developer tools: gcc, make, autoconf, git, openssl, wireshark
